What is this 100 Bands, 100 Days project?
We, Teri and I, have set out to see live music from 100 bands over 100 days from Memorial Day, May 29, 2017, to just past Labor Day, September 5, 2017. We will not be able to see live music everyday, mostly due to travel and full-time working, but will see 100 bands over the 100 days.
Where did this idea come from?
I first heard of this idea several years ago when I discovered the 100 Bands in 100 Days website and the short documentary film that resulted from it. Last year, I did a personal music project called 13 Weeks of Live Music that is documented on Tumblr.
Why are you doing this?
We enjoy live music, we live in a city that has a great live music scene, but we have spent little time experiencing it. Doing a project like this opens us up to new understanding and new possibilities. We learn more about the city we live in, we discover music venues, we meet new people, and, most of all, we experience the single, unique, ephemeral point in time when performers share their talents with us.
Are there rules?
There are a few simple rules.
Rule 1: 100 Bands over 100 Days
Rule 2: No repeat bands
Rule 3: A minimum of 30 minutes
